Ring doorbell angle mounts: what fits and what angle you need

Ring sells wedge kits that angle a doorbell up to 15 degrees on battery models and 25 degrees on Pro and Wired models. If your door needs more turn than that, you need a third-party wedge. Most run from 30 to 55 degrees. Ring battery doorbells since the 2nd generation share about the same body, 128 x 62 x 28 mm, so one wedge shape fits several models. Pro models use a smaller body and need their own wedge.
Your Ring doorbell points straight out from the wall. If your walkway comes in from the side, the camera watches the street, not your guests. The fix is a small angled block called a wedge. It sits between the wall and the doorbell and turns the camera.
What Ring sells, and where it stops
Ring makes three wedge kits. The battery doorbell kit tilts 10 degrees. The stackable kit for Video Doorbell 2, 3, and 4 adds 5 degrees per piece, up to 15 degrees. The kit for Pro and Wired models is one fixed 25 degree piece that does not stack.
That is the ceiling. Ring does not sell a 30 or 45 degree wedge for any model. If your door needs more turn than 15 or 25 degrees, you need a third-party wedge. Most third-party wedges run from 30 to 55 degrees.
Which Ring doorbells share a wedge
Good news if you own a battery model. Ring has kept about the same body since the 2nd generation: 128 mm tall, 62 mm wide, 28 mm deep. One wedge shape fits Video Doorbell 2, 3, 4, and the Battery Doorbell line.
The Pro models are different. The Pro 2 body is 114 x 49 x 22 mm, smaller and slimmer. A wedge made for a battery model will not hold it.

How to pick the angle
Start with the smallest angle that shows your walkway. Have someone stand where guests stand. Open the live view. If they are near the edge of the frame, a 10 or 15 degree kit may be enough. If they are out of frame, you likely need 30 degrees or more.
Two more numbers help. Ring says to mount the doorbell about 48 inches (1.22 m) off the ground. And its motion detection is tuned for people 5 to 15 feet in front of the door. Aim the camera at that zone.
Doors with a sidelight
A sidelight is the tall, skinny window beside your door. It leaves no flat wall next to the door, so the doorbell ends up on trim that faces sideways. Installer guides agree on the fix: mount on the door frame on the handle side, then use a wedge to turn the camera back toward the walkway.
There is no magic angle for sidelight doors. Porch depth and trim width change the math at every house. Use the smallest-angle test above.
