The Gear Bearing is a clever piece of 3D printed workshop engineering that solves a classic problem: traditional ball bearings are tricky to print and often need assembly. This design comes out of the printer ready to spin, no assembly required.

It's a planetary gearset that works like a cross between a needle bearing and a thrust bearing. The gears themselves keep the rollers perfectly spaced, so there's no need for a cage. All gears are herringbone, which means they handle axial loads and lock together permanently—you can't take it apart even if you try.

This parametric OpenSCAD file lets you dial in exactly the dimensions you need using the Customizer. Whether you're building a turntable, a rotating jig, or experimenting with mechanical motion, this bearing brings a manufacturing trick that only additive printing can pull off.
