This massive print-in-place chain is a showstopping 3D printed toy that demonstrates the incredible potential of additive manufacturing. Originally designed to create the longest possible chain on a single print bed, this spiral layout maximizes every millimeter of space to produce working chains from 1.5 meters up to an astonishing 18 meters long.

The design features interlocking links that print connected but fully articulated – no assembly, glue, or post-processing needed. Each link adds approximately 7.6mm to the total chain length, and we offer multiple file sizes to fit print beds from 120x120mm up to 400x400mm. The 800-link version shown produces nearly 6 meters of functional chain.

This print requires good bed adhesion and proper retraction settings, but it's achievable on most well-tuned printers. If any links break during printing or handling, they're easily repaired with a hobby knife and superglue.
